The Soryu Carrier is a Japanese submarine aircraft carrier, also known as the Soryu-class submarine. It is the largest and most advanced submarine in the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) fleet. The carrier was first commissioned in 2009 and has a length of 84 meters and a displacement of around 4,000 tonnes.
The Soryu Carrier can carry up to 7 SH-60K Seahawk helicopters and has a range of over 6,100 nautical miles. It is equipped with advanced sensor systems, including sonar and radar, and features advanced communications systems for enhanced situational awareness.
The Soryu Carrier is a project of the Japanese government's Mid-Term Defense Program, which aims to enhance Japan's defense capabilities in the face of perceived security threats in the Indo-Pacific region. The carrier is named after the Soryu, a legendary dragon in Japanese mythology.
